Joshua's Thoughts

Wait – We didn’t lose IdeaJam?!

i was strangely and pleasantly surprised to get an e-mail this morning to find that ekibot had won 3rd place in the “social good” track of ideajam.

excerpt from the e-mail:

Thank you so much for your efforts and fantastic ideas and presentations!

We have 15 entries in the first ever Social Good track. It was a really, really hard decision to pick the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners …

I would encourage you to use any of the folks on the cc line or me to help in taking your idea to the next step.

3rd Place (TIE)
ekibot (Waltham) – we loved the idea to inspire small individual action, the ability to move “savings” into an account for a particular goal, and the social networking element!

we lost ideajam

there were some good ideas, but we weren’t able to pull off a win. i’m chalking it up the fact that there were no blinking led’s in our presentation.

however, the idea is available for preview here: http://ekibot.com/

ekibot tracks your method of travel and is able to calculate your gas savings for the times you opt to not drive a car. you can then opt to have the would-be savings deducted from your account and allocated to different budgets you setup in quickbooks online.

in addition, you can login online, tags your routes and view how much others have saved. updates would be posted to your twitter and facebook.

i’m sad. so sad. i really wanted to win for a 3rd time in a row. oh well! the next ideajam is in december.

p.s. ekibot is “bike” backwards with ot.

i’m scrambling around right now trying to pull together the last few pieces needed for my ideajam presentation with rob keohane.

the great “cubicle move” debate

Tags: , ,

i have been presented with a choice to move to a different cube. tis true, success and progress are born from change, but in this case – i’m not sure.

should i stay? i’m very close to my manager and the rest of the team right now. everyone who walks by has to see me and my cube (which may or may not be a good thing).

the other cube i’m considering  (there’s only one because the others just aren’t worthy) is further away from my team, tucked in a corner, and flooded by light from the surrounding windows.

so. do i risk the chance that i might not get as much interaction with the team or do i make the change for more light and more privacy? hmmmmm. choices.
